alsaplayer and jack problem
Hi. I'm trying to check that I have jack properly installed by using alsaplayer.
I can start jackd OK:
% jackd -d alsa -d hw:0 -r 44100
jackd 0.98.1

I can run alsaplayer OK:
% alsaplayer mountain.mp3
[plays music]
However, I can't get alsaplayer to play sound through jack.
% alsaplayer -o jack mountain.mp3
cannot connect to jack server
cannot connect to default JACK server
jack: server not running?
Failed to register plugin: /usr/local/lib/alsaplayer/output/libjack_out.so
Failed to load output plugin "jack". Trying defaults.
I do have jackd running. I haven't used jack before, so it is entirely possible that I'm
doing something utterly stupid :-)
Any hints?
Thanks in anticipation,
Ross-c
