X Windows does not start

Hi. I use SuSE 9.0. When the loadings at startup finished, the screen always be as if closed and nothing else happens. If I press ctrl+alt+F1 and type startx, it says:

Fatal server error:
Server is already active for display 0
If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock
and start again.

The last thing i did in linux was changing monitor to NEC V921 from Unknown(or
default) in SaX although mine is V721.

Thanks..

Move to consol an type init3 and than sax2. There you can change your monitor.

If this will be failed you have to type fglrxconfig and modify your SYS.

That's odd, it's acting like you already have another gui open.
That's the error I get if I go to another virtual terminal with my gui open, login and type startx..

What happens if you hit Ctrl+Alt+F7? Is there a gui there? If not try and remove the file it's talking about... /tmp/.X0-lock.
