my pc can not start X windows: the error is
X: error while loading shared libraries: libz.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
INIT: id "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes"
and it keeps on looping. i can login in text mode and tried to type X samething happens.
and it looks like you have some broken libraries.
I'd recommend using yum and doing a yum install xorg
should find all the deps you need etc.
if nothing else, pop in the cd and install from there.
Thanks for the reply
i tried startx and i am getting the same error
and when i try to execute yum it gave me the a traceback of my recent call then importError: libz.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
i think its messed up very good this time
if anybody else got ideas about this problem please let me know. i don't want to start from scratch plus i would like to know how to fix it if it was a real job related issue.
searched google.. may have found the package you need.
I also found a discussion about XFree86 and someone else had this problem, all they had to do was install the package.
