The system stopped asking me for my password after suspending

Hello brave guys,
I'm new to the Linux world. I have installed Linux Mint Xfce on my Dell desktop, everything is well. But once when I was logging out, I saw the option (save session for future logins), and I said to myself "Why don't I try this, I won't need to suspend the system anymore". I did this indeed until I figured out that it doesn't save my open apps !!
Besides, since then, I get back to my old way of suspending the system. But the surprise was the system stopped asking me for my password. So sadly I needed to Shut down the system every time
Any help?
Thanks in advance

Thanks a lot elucches, although the topic in the link is talking exactly in the opposite direction of what I need; but I found the solution very simple by doing exactly the opposite action, thanks to you. I actually checked the option (Lock screen).
this forum is so polite and so cooperative. Thank you all

 I'm glad it helped you.
I'm not using Xfce now, but I used to like it. It was very flexible.
