"Shortcut to FireFox"

Okay, I've just installed Firefox onto my SuSE machine. Now... how do I create an Icon to launch Firefox from either my desktop or from the "quick launch" toolbar? I don't want to have to browse to the installation folder each time I want to start firefox. I'm SO new to this =)

haha, "quick launch."

i'm assuming you're using kde. for fun, you should first add firefox to the main menu by right clicking the K and edit menu. in the menu editor, make a new entry, put in all the info (directory it's located in, command, icon, etc.) and click n drag it to where you want. save the configuration. you'll see it in the menu, and click and drag it to the desktop and toolbar, or wherever you please.

To create a shortcut on the desktop in KDE, right click in some open space, then: Create New > File > Link to Application. Two tabs are important, General, and Application. In the General tab, you will need to fill in the name of the shortcut (eg, Firefox) plus you can choose the icon by clicking on the blue gear on the left hand side (for Firefox, choose Other Icons, then Browse to locate the icon you want to use). In the Application, click Browse to locate the Firefox executable. Save your changes and you're done.

FWIW when I was learning my way around KDE, this question drove me nuts for a couple of weeks. -- J.W.
