run an x ecutable?


I'm trying to run an executable file...
properties are - executable (application/x-executable)
I own it
it is set to allow execution...
....I still can't get it to run!
Help me..please

This does not tell us much though. What output do you get when trying to run it?

Also just to be on the safe side, please post results of

I installed gnome commander and it executed. I don't know what I was doing wrong. I just installed Ubuntu 11.1 on my win7 PC dual boot. I just discovered I can't see my DVD player. LOL....so much to learn.

If the executable is not in $PATH, you must provide the full path to run it. Even when it is in the current directory, you must call
Code:
./<executable>
The leading dot will always refer to the current directory.
