How to enter graphical mode (run level 5) command line (run lenel 3)


HI everyone,

I'm EDMOND and a new openSUSE user. I would like to know the command to issue at the command line (run level 3 ) to get to run level 5. Thanks.

startx or init 5

I think you have to have root privileges (su) to use "init 5" to start both the X window system and display a desktop. "startx" will start X but may not give you a desktop.

If you have an upstart system then use: telinit 5 as superuser. See man telinit
