Restoring KDE in Slackware 11

I've recently lost. When i try to login as root i get a bunch of prompts telling me that X failed. I am able to login as user but i cant get the task bar to show up making it impossible for me to get access to the programs. I am not able to login as root at all. What can i go to fix this problem. I am still able to use the shell but only from the verbose screen. Is there any type of command i can use to fix this issue.

nevermind that you shouldn't log in to X as root.

IF you can log on as root in the shell, and as yourself into X/KDE, then most likely you have an error in the .X* or .kde directory under /root .

I'd probably nuke .kde first and try from there...

Course if you had a the error messages one could take a better stab at the whole thing.

Also there is a log file in /var/log/ called usually Xorg.0.log which should give you some hints.
