KDE hangs when restoring previous session

I am currently unable to start KDE under my main userid, because it hangs when it gets 33% through restoring the previous session. The cursor still moves in response to mouse movements, but I get no response from the keyboard or mouse clicks, and must reboot every time.

Anyone know if there's a way to get it to start without restoring the previous session?

(I know how to set this as a preference once KDE is running, but I have to do it from 'outside' a KDE session, since I can't get back in right now.)

I've posted this on KDE-Forum.org, but no one's responded.

thanks,
Bruce

I can think of a couple of things to try
i guess it also could be a problem with ~/.ICEauthority might want to remove or rename that
next try deleting or moving so you can put it back any file/files in ~/.kde/share/config/session
also might
try deleting everything in /tmp and possibly reboot
might help to delete the 3 links in top level .kde that point to /tmp files
might help also to delete any file in your home dir that start with .DCOPserver_
or try renaming the entire .kde folder something else and you should get the config wizard again

Thanks, f_b_f - it looks like moving the ~/.kde/share/config/session/ files was the right fix; at least that allowed me to restart KDE successfully. It still launched all the apps that had been open when I had last shut it down, so that information was obviously stored somewhere else, but it seems okay now.

Thanks,
bruce
