Quietening the Laptop Fan

I installed Slackware 9.1 on my laptop that uses an Mobile Athlon XP 2000+ processor. The fan constantly runs and never quietens down.

I do not have any significant processes running except the KDE desktop.

Is there a way to way AMD PowerNow! technology work on my laptop? Or is there anything I can do to make the fan spin less often?

do a top to find out what all services are running.

I would suggest that you report this post to a moderator. Have him shutdown this thread and you can ask for help to quieten the fan in the hardware forum
