Problems with ID3Tag when installing GTKPod

Hi, I am kind of new to linux but i have a little know-how.

I am trying to get my IPod working with linux but i have one last little things I can't get working amongst the barrage of errors. I can't seem to get the ID3tags working to install GTKPod. When i try to ./configure it gives me the error:

checking for id3_frame_field in -lid3tag... no
configure: error: *** id3tag >= 0.15 lib not found (0.14 will not work!)

So I went and installed the id3lib-3.8.3 library and then tried to ./configure GTKPod again but it still gives me the same error. Any help on this would be immensly appreciated.

Oh and I am runnin a Mandrake 9.2 distro trying to install gtkpod 0.87.3.

Thanks,
Steve
