Unhappy Need help with installing latest gtkpod... (.80)

When trying to configure gtkpod .80, I get an error. The thing is, the file they say is missing is actually there. What is wrong? Why is this happening? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gtk+-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
