i'm kind a new with linux but this is not my first linux installation.
I've try two linux distro, Redhat 8 and mandriva 2007 but i always have trouble with sound and graphic. I'm using nvidia geforce mx 4 and intel chipset soundcard. After installing linux my sound not come out and screen resolution only available to 800x600 and it said i don't have a 3d graphic accelerator.
Please help how to resolve it i still have Mandriva 2007 installed on my pc and it still newly installed about 3 days ago... i won't to convert it back to Windows, i'm tired with all the viruses issue which make my PC unstable.

I'm not familiar with Mandrake's package manager. You can get the video card drivers from Nvidia's site: nvidia.com I'm not sure about the sound card. I had a sound card issue for the LONGEST time on my old computer, it was onboard audio. Turns out the sound card was fried. This may or may not be your problem. Linux distros are very good about coming chuck full of drivers for all kinds of hardware.

For future reference, this is a question that could easily be answered by either using the search option here or by using Google. Tons of other people have similar problems and you can learn from them. It also feels a lot better having figured something out on your own rather than someone spoon feeding it to you.
