Running Cinnamon Mint 19.3, updated
Dell laptop Intel m5
Has run well for past year up to now, sudden change in response
Cursor works on touchpad &/or mouse
Today program stopped responding to touchpad left enter key and from keyboard enter key
Some response from windows key, brings up the menu, scroll works for menu items select, menu item will open with keyboard enter but not touchpad enter. Menu item does not respond to clicks
To close menu item, need to click right touchpad key, select close and click on key board enter (not with touchpad enter)
Ctrl Alt Del also works
Is this a software problem or is it a computer malfunction?
i have never had occasion to test it, but the timeshift documentation says you can run it from another system with timeshift installed so my thought would be to try from a live usb:
Quote:
Snapshots can be restored either from the running system (online restore) or from another system that has Timeshift installed on it (offline restore).
If the main system is not bootable, then it is possible to boot from an Ubuntu Live CD, install Timeshift on the live system, and restore a snapshot on the main system.

Unclear.
1. It's called "left click", not "touchpad enter key".
2. You seem to first say that the keyboard's enter key does not work, then it does work. Please clarify.
3. Also clarify if this happens across all applications or only the mint menu.
PS: you might want to stop revealing your Email address to the world.
Problem occurs for any function, not just menu
Left click does not work at any time
Windows key works, pulls up menu
Keyboard entry only works occasionally, will work on menu
