Well maybe reading in the release notes , will help you how to decide
Most ditros give the option to upgrade.
AS I do not like to upgrade , I always do a fresh install and keep the old version for a sometime, until I am satisfy with the
new one.
i wanted to know one more thing..i have been using fedora for more than one year now...
but i have come to know that ubuntu is far better than fedora in terms of its user friendly nature...installation of softwares is also quiet easy in ubuntu as far as i have heard...
can neone tell me ..which is better ubuntu or fedora..
@ronlau9..i wd like to ask u ...wen u shifted to fedora 9 then u must have installed all the softwares dat dont come with fedora (like vlc, compiz fusion n all)afresh or is there ne way to copy them from fedora 8 to 9.....i have installed many softwares in fedora 8 using yum and now i want to shift to fedora 9 ...so is there ne way to carry my softwares there in fedora 9 or i need to reinstall them using yum..

i think in KDE if you use Konqueror, you can do this. but yes, i think there is no automounting! (

Well if you go for a clean install , you have to reinstall every thing
As far as possible I use ADD/Remove Software
But if you go for a upgrade only chances will be reinstalled

Sounds like a corrupted DVD image.
Did you do a media check on the downloaded DVD ?
Also, you could try and see what sysimage.cfg contains and try to fix it somehow.
I suggest Ubuntu if you're new to Linux and compiling stuff and installing it after (apt is superior compared to yum from my point of view).
