Installing the man-db package will fix that error; I bet you'll turn up more errors. I don't know why it didn't get installed.

manually install man-db-2.8.7

# URL: https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2/system/man-db/
# slackbuilds:
wget https://slackbuilds.org/slackbuilds/.../man-db.tar.gz
# wget https://slackbuilds.org/slackbuilds/...-db.tar.gz.asc

tar zxvf man-db.tar.gz
cd man-db
# source:
wget http://download.savannah.gnu.org/rel...e-1.5.0.tar.gz
wget http://download.savannah.gnu.org/rel...b-2.8.7.tar.xz

sudo ./man-db.SlackBuild
# modify man-db.SlackBuild for man-db version 2.8.4 >> 2.8.7
sudo installpkg /tmp/man-db-2.8.7-x86_64-1_SBo.tgz

man works well now.
