lost onboard network card all of a sudden


i was trying to install vlc player
on suse 11.0

but the installation failed
on the next boot my network did not initialize
my system is set for default network settings that setup during installation
i did not tamper with them at all

now i do not hav ther network connection at all

not able to understand what to do

also i checked up my card for any physical problems but it runs fine on my dual boot windows alternative.

i just migrated to suse 11.0 and installed it yesterday.

please help!!

With KDE

Have you opened Computer, Administrator Settings, Hardware, Sound, and used the Edit button to re-configure your sound? You may then use Other on the same page to Play Test Sound and if necessary to use Volume to enter and adjust the settings for sound. That and adjustments in KMix could help with the problem.

Did you install vlc using the openSUSE link here? It solves many problems with dependencies.
