Asus onboard Sound and Network Card


Well i just installed Slackware 10.0

I have a problem thou, i am sorta new to linux and everything on my mother board doesent seem to be working..

My Network Card on the Asus motherboard cant be found using the netconfig...

Says it cant find a card...

My onboard sound doesent work either :/

Some help would be appreciated

First you should know what are the onboard audio and onboard lan adapter.
Then you can download respective drivers for linux.
At last, follow the driver installation recommendation, you will find your audio and network card can function normally in linux also. It is not difficult ,dont fear it.

well i bused out the manual and found this

Audio - Realtek ALC650 6CH with built-in HP amplifier

LAN - MCP NVIDIA MAC + Realtek 8201BL PHY

I have no clue were to find these Drivers, if someone could help me i would REALLLY appreciate it.

didja try the asus site and look for linux drivers?

I have an a7n8x-e deluxe and i used the forcedeth module for the built in NIC
My slackware 10 found that one ok.

You could try a.... modprobe forcedeth
the settings are in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf for the ip n stuff

or you can go to the nvidia site to get the chipset drivers for the NIC and sound.

wow dude...

I installed the Audio Drivers and Lan Drivers..

The lan Drivers have Slackware 8.0. in it..... i am using 10.0

They expect me to edit all these moduals and shit...

I am new to linux... and am supposed to edit all these moduals..

Jeez

The realtek site had release this audio driver for linux. And the driver contains the sample modules configuration file. Follow the sample file , you can edit your modules easily.
