Linux10.10 Where to down load "Demux " plugin for "Amorak" music
Linux 10.10 nothing but trouble from first day . Desk top link for yahoo mail now connects to Amorak music application instead of my yahoo mail . Whats worse the music application requires a plug in called "Demux" which does not appear to be available. Nothing seems to work well with 10.10
What is linux 10.10? Are you talking about ubuntu, or another distro? You need to be more specific when telling us details about your system. As far as your issue, what do you mean your desktop link connects to the Amarok music player? Have you tried re-creating the link?
Now about the "demux" plugin issue.... Most likely, the format of the audio you are trying to play is not supported; You need to install the third party codecs in order to play mp3's, mpg's, etc.... Have a look here - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats
I guess it is Ubuntu just had the Linux updated was told it was 10.10 latest version . One of the applications Amorak wants the plug in Demux to work . Where do I find it? Why does everyone make things more complicated than necessary. I am regretting doing Linux again ,nothing seems to work . Lots of problems .
Did you even read what I have said in my previous post? What are you trying to play in Amarok? Sorry about the bold, but that is the correct spelling....
And what do you mean you guess it is Ubuntu? What distro are you using? You are the one who installed it on your system....
This is impossible . I had this Linux ,ubuntu what ever this is installed by some one else. Not guilty. Yes Amarok spelling is correct. This Amarok is supposed to play music. On my desk top I had a link to Yahoo mail one click and I was at my mail . In the last two days every time I click the icon for yahoo mail it comes up with the AMAROK music player no longer allowing yahoo mail access on this path . The AMAROK does not work it wants to be supported by "DEMUX" plug in . I typed in Goggle "download demux plug in" no results . Went to Linux plugins ,no results Every possible thing to click on Amarok has been clicked and no good results . I know of no other way to explain this . I am at a loss as to how this can be so complicated to explain . I guess I am just a moron not able to make myself understood. I started with a small problem and was talked into upgrading now my computer is little more than a brick . What was a minor headache daily has turned into several weeks of huge headaches . To make matters worse I dont seem to able to explain my problems clearly . Making this all the more hopeless. Bill
Yes I did .Installed restricted package offered there .No help . Thank you for your help . I am unable to communicate effectively here so I will not waste any more of your time . I will put this problem back in the hands of the one who installed what ever is on this machine. My opinion is Linux is a nightmare ! Thank you for your time .
Well can you at least try your best? I am willing to help..... What eactly is the problem, with full details? What all is going on? I am really trying to follow....
My friend installed Linux 10.10 with all up grades. Put several one click icons on my desk top,for my mail. All worked fine for a bit. I clicked on the link to yahoo mail and 'Amarok" a music application now comes up.Blocking the path to yahoo mail on my yahoo link. Interesting ,but Amarok wants a demux plug in to function.Have tried clicking all possible options on amarok to clear it and get back to yahoo mail . Problem is two fold access to yahoo mail is blocked by "Amarok" and Amarock is lacking a plug in called "Demux"rendering it not operational. I fail to see why this is not clear. I am beginning to hate Linux.Goggle search was done with these questions : Down load demux plug in /Down load Linux plug ins/ Amarok Tutorials / nothing helped. If this is not clear now it is unlikely it will ever be . Bill
Oh ok, I see. The "demux error" you are getting is because of an improper file trying to be opened with Amarok; Try right clicking the file to open it with another program, and choose firefox. Let me know if you can or not.
You wont believe this. There seemed to be no way to do what you suggested ,those options were not available when following your directions step by step . The problem appears to resolve itself and now the link works and "Amaroak appears to have put itself away.Link now works properly. Next issue: When update manager shows up all prompts are followed and pass word entered for admin tasks. Click install and I get a error message that refuses to install all updates saying they are from untrustworthy sources . The issue of the EMUX plug in still exists to make Amaroak operational..Thanks for your help . Bill
