What type of file are you trying to play? If its mp3 or wma, do you have the win32 codecs installed?

Yes I have installed all the codecs. Amarok can't play mp3 and wma, but XMMS can. I'm wondering about the reason. Any ideas?=)

What distribution are you using. Some distros cripple xine-lib which is used by Amarok so you may need to replace it with a full working version. If you are using Slack, xine should not be crippled and as long as the plugins are in /usr/lib/win32, xine should play most types of multimedia files. Its also a good idea to create symlinks to the /usr/lib/win32 directory in /usr/local/codecs and /usr/lib/codecs.
