Now i have installed fluxbox through the tty and i am currently inside the fluxbox only!

I have made some modification to your kdmrc file. I have uploaded it as kdmrc.txt because LQ wont allow me to attach just as kdmrc :-) Peform the following steps then:

1. Download this file and rename it to kdmrc

2. Take a backup of kdmrc file located under /etc/kde4/kdm

3. Copy the downloaded file to /etc/kde4/kdm

4. Reboot the system

5. Try to login.

can you tell what was the problem???

Glad to hear that it worked!!!

In you kdmrc file I found that the following parameter was set to false:

AllowRootLogins=False I changed it to true

another line was commented out (which I don't think affected the logins but for the security purpose it is good to leave that file uncommented)

HiddenUser=root

Since the issue has been resolved please mark the thread as solved :-)
