installing wine?


Hi guys,
i'm new to linux and i am running ubuntu 11.04.
i'm trying to install wine. i downloaded the binary files and extracted them. i tried running the command './configure' and got a error saying :no such file or dir. i read the 'readme' file but cannot configure. i hope somebody can help me with this issues.

If you are downloading the binary package, then you don't need to compile it; it's a ready to run package. More to the point, Ubuntu has WINE in it's repositories, so you shouldn't need to manually download anything. Just install it through the package manager.

Why not just automagically download and install from repository?

Connect to the Internet. Open a terminal and issue the command: sudo apt-get install wine

If you must configure, have you remembered to navigate to the file?
