I have recently installed Red Hat 7.2 on my system, I installed it from my Pioneer CD-ROM (DR-124X), however now the installation is complete the CD-ROM drive does not work.
I am a complete newbie with regards to Linux and am running Gnome so please go easy on me!.
If I try to mount the CR-ROM I get an 'unkown device' error message.
When I view the CD-ROM drive properties in the 'Hardware Browser' it correctly identifies the CD-ROM, however has the following additional information:
Manufacturer : unknown
Driver : ignore
Device : /dev/scd0
My guess is that I need to configure a driver here...
As my PC managed to auto-boot from the CD in-order to install Red Hat I'm guessing that a generic driver should do the job. I checked on the Pioneer web site and there does not seem to be a Linux driver.
Can anyone give me any advice on setting this up?, although I'm no stranger to Windows, I have only been running Linux for two hours so if anyone can help me in resolving this in simpleton steps I would be extremely gratefull!
Thanks.
Matt
