Unhappy Framebuffer Problems

Hi, this is my first post here. Just installed mandrake linux 10 a few days ago, and trying to configure it to suit my tastes. I am running off a laptop with a 1400x1050 display, but i cannot set the console framebuffer to that resolution via the vga=834 line in the grub config. It seems that it works fine running the framebuffer at 1280x1024 when vga=791, but when i set vga=834, it reverts to the standard text mode. Changing it to its hex equavalent does not work either. What is the cause of this problem how should i fix it. Thanks in advance.

You are probably using a centrino laptop.

There is a problem in these laptops as the bios is not able to set the video mode to anything higer than 1280x1024.

Check this site for more info...

Unhappy Same framebuffer problem

I have a DELL Inspiron 5150 and FC3 and I have the same question. I´m trying to put my text console to 1400x1050.
My Xorg config is fine at 1400x1050 and I also have installed nVIdia drivers succesfully.
My video card is is a nVidia GeForce Go5200 and it´s not a Centrino.
Have you resolved the problem???. If so please tell me. Thanks a lot.

Talking Framebuffer Problem SOLVED

Ok This is what I have don to get my console 1400x1050 on a DELL Inspiron 5150 with NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200:

Just add "vga=0x348 video=vesafb" to kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst

I have tested it both in Fedora Core 3 and in Ubuntu 5.04 (Hoary)
