Disabling telnet escpae character.

Hi,

I've been trying to set up ctags for a project.
I tried disabling CTRL-] by logging into the host using telnet -E hostname. I tried using telnet -e "" hostname as well.
But neither of these are disabling the esc character.

I'm working on a linux machine. Kernel 2.6.18-8.el5

Could any one point out what's going on?

Thanks for the help!

Raghu

What version of telnet are you using (telnet version + os version)

telnet -E works for me.
I'm using cygwin telnet.
$ which telnet
/usr/bin/telnet
$ telnet --version
telnet (GNU inetutils) 1.5

It also reports "Escape character is 'off'." when I login.

I'm not sure about the version of telnet. It's seems pretty old, as it doesn't support '--version'.

I too saw 'Escape char off' while logging in using telnet. But it wasn't off.
