I never used "diablo 2", but in general when asking questions here it is best to state what OS you are using and be very specific about what you did (how and from where did you download, what patch did you apply), and what error messages were printed. Also, what you have tried to do to understand or fix the problem.

Sounds like it is crashing your x server. Can you check the /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old after this happens?

Are you able to run other 3d games/programs smoothly?

Also, you still did not say where you downloaded it from, or how you actually used the iso file for the installation.

You can check logs with the "less" command. For example in a terminal do:
Code:
less /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old
You can scroll with the arrow keys and pg up/down and quit with q.

I had a bit of a google and it seems that "Diablo 2" is a windows game with no linux version: that is the sort of information that would have been helpful in your first post. From this I have to assume that you used wine to get it to run. Making widows programs run on linux using wine is a sort of black magic that prefer not to practice. You can find information about wine at http://www.winehq.org, and which windows programs may work with it at http://appdb.winehq.org

In practice wine should not be expected to work with random pieces of software. If you have windows software that you want to run, 9 times out of 10 you'll need to use windows to run it.
