Could not access Linux Desktop using XStart

I am trying to access a Linux (Redhat 4) machine desktop from my windows XP machine using xmanager(XStart).
Till yesterday I was able to connect to the desktop using xstart using the execution command "/usr/bin/gnome-session --display $DISPLAY", but now its just freezing and I am not able to see the desktop. But I am able to login to that user through command window. The other thing is I am able to see the desktop for all other users. May be some settings were messed up for this desktop display, but I am not sure how to fix it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

When you are logged in as that user at the command prompt you may try the command startx
