Change hostname?

Okay, I want to change the name of the server. I used hostname, and it changed. For example, bash would show:
zeno@zenorebirth
Which is what I wanted, and it had changed. But then on a reboot, it reverted to the old name.

I want to change the name, but without using netconfig. That's how I used it originally.

Yes, I read that manual already. It still doesn't explain why the hostname reset on reboot.

Unless what I'm trying to change is the FQDN..?

and the distribution you are using is.......
and how did you change the name......

If you are using Slackware as it says under your name...then the hostname is set in the /etc/hosts file.
