./autogen.sh

i am trying to run ./autogen.sh for the first time..
i got via CVS some source and now i am trying to make a config.h file so i can compile and install the openAL, but when i do either sh ./autogen.sh or just ./autogen.sh i get this:
./autogen.sh: line 3: autoheader: command not found
./autogen.sh: line 4: autoconf: command not found

any ideas?
thanks
v
