Wont recognize Linksys WPC11 v4 , on Fedora Core 1
Hi,
Even though there seem to be an Infinite number of posts on the Linksys WPC11 V4 PCMCIA card, i still cannot get mine working. I think its cuz im an absolute newbie at linux.
Anyway , i installed the latest fedora RPM's for Linux-wlan from prism2.unixguru.raleigh.nc.us/
those went without a hitch, but when i try to run ifconfig, it gives me a message saying
wlan0: unknown interface: No such device
HELP....
Thanks in advance
Go to this thread, http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...PC11+Version+4
This Is where Im at. I also had Fedora, running on my laptop / which runs the 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl kernel. The card wont work with that kernel, until Linksys or Somebody comes out with drivers. You can also , install a different kernel, it will be an older one, From the one you are currently using , with Fedora. But doing it that way , you can get the card working. There are drivers for Linux RH9.0 and I think Earlier. I think the newest kernel it will work on is, 2.4.20 or the 2.4.21 kernel. I'am now working on trying to get it going with the 2.4.20-20.9 updated kernel on RH9.0..... There are alot of post , at this thread. Something posted there might help you. I am currently posting there, trying to get this thing working, with all the others, that have posted there. Hope this has helped you.
