By default, any user who can login to your RH system can collect via imap.

Look in the log file /var/log/messages for error/success messages..
tail -f /var/log/messages | grep imapd

If you type chkconfig --list, imapd should be listed as on...
If you type netstat -tanp xinetd on port 143 should be listed as listening..

when i'm doing tail -f /var/log/messages | grep imapd nothing really comes on the screen , i don't know why ?, when i'm doing chkconfig --list i'm getting that xinetd service is on and xinetd based services such as imap are on.

when i'm trying to telnet localhost 143 i'm getting :

Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4REV1 LOGIN-REFERRALS STARTTLS AUTH=LOGIN] localhost.localdomain IMAP4rev1 2001.315rh at Tue, 21 Oct 2003 15:01:08 +0200 (CAT)
* BYE Autologout; idle for too long
Connection closed by foreign host.
please explain me what is going on because i'm really new in this linux world.

telle me all the steps to configure an uw imap server .

thanx for your help
