Unable to use wget and unable to ping machine from external source

Hello folks! I am a newbie here and new to LInux too, so just wondered if you could give me a hand.

I have installed Fedora Core 5. I am logged in as root and I am trying to install CPanel. When I tried to run the wget command, it siad "network unreachable". During the setup, i gave the box an external IP address. All ports are opened and forwarded to the IP, however, i'm unable to ping from another machine.
I checked my hosts file, which looks like this localhost

How can I resolve this issue?
Many thanks

James Grunshaw

sounds like you've no default gateway or something. what does the output of "ifconfig" and "route -n" say?

and for christs sake.. don't give out real ip addresses.

Yeh, good idea! I really didn't think about posting real IPs.....Ok here is the output from ifconfig.

[root@intense cpins]# ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:03:FF:5E:ED:20
inet Mask:
inet6 addr: fe80::203:ffff:fe5e:ed20/64 Scope:Link
RX packets:12733 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:39 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:1218286 (1.1 MiB) TX bytes:3809 (3.7 KiB)
Interrupt:11 Base address:0x2000

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr: Mask:
inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
RX packets:8 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:8 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:560 (560.0 b) TX bytes:560 (560.0 b)

And here is the output from route -n

estination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface U 0 0 0 eth0 U 0 0 0 eth0

No gateway

As Chris told there is no gateway for your machine
Pls add the gateway address provided by your ISP
