unable to ping anything

I'm running FC4 on a laptop. I can telnet to the box, I can access web pages on the box. I can traceroute from the box to anywhere. I can update with yum and DNS is seems to be working lika a charm.

I have a static address with a gateway of 192.168.0.1, local address is 192.168.0.101

But, I can not ping a thing. I can not ping the router 192.168.0.1, localhost, 127.0.0.1 or even the local ip of 192.168.0.101

[root@laptop init.d]# /sbin/ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:04:5A:9E:99:50
inet addr:192.168.0.101 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

RX bytes:17642186 (16.8 MiB) TX bytes:8599520 (8.2 MiB)

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host

Maybe you have an iptables rule blocking outgoing pings? Or, for that matter, incoming ping replies?
