suse 9.2: bursts of network activity

Hi

I am running SUSE 9.2 professional and seem to be having intermittent bursts of netowrk activity. When playing games online I get huge amounts of lag.

How can I determine what process is causing this netowrk activity?

thx

Try using ethereal, or a sniffer of some kind.

Another question, when nothing is happening on the server, should there evern be any network traffic to external networks? (ie an ip ouside of the internel 10.1.1.X network)

Because I am getting some traffic
