Strange network activity !!!!!!

Hello guys,
I am using Gkrellm on top of kde. But lately it has been showing
strange network activities. the eth0 is transmitting 24 KB all day
long despite I have no programs doing any network activities.
How can I know which program is doing that transmission?
is there any shell command for that?
I am running kde 3.2.2 on Debian sarge kernel 2.6.6.

thanx in advance.

You can check your bandwith usage by running "iptraf" which is in console.

I seriously doubt that your sending 24kBYTES/s and not 24kBITS.

Check what iptraf says, it's default format is in kbits/s.

PS: 24kbits/s = 3kB/s

you also can type:

lsof -nl |egrep "TCP|UDP"

there you get a list of all programs with their socket states

thanx netmask, that iptraf program is great.
it seems that something went wrong with the gkrellm cuz
the interface detailed statistics from iptraf is displayin around
3 kb/s of traffic.

thanx once again.
