undesirable network activity

Hello,

i don't know if you have the same thing but i have just installed official Mandrake 10.1 and every 5 or 7 second a packet of 250o go throught eth0.
I'm using gkrellm to see to it.

Could it be net_applet or Kdeinit ?

If someone have an idea on how to stop it , il would be fine.

ty

Cups will probe your network looking for attached printers, cups servers and printer servers on various ports.

The Time services will also do this as will many other services.

Isolate the port being used and grep /etc/services to find what is using it.

Is this when you are connected to the internet? I'm no networking expert, but surely if could be anything that is sending that data through eth0???

You could try running ethereal and find out information about the packets sent out through eth0 which may help, other than that, try killing processes to see if that stops it.
