sshd and suse 9.1, need help configuring it

Hello. I just installed suse 9.1 and Need help with sshd. I know the package is installed, when I did man sshd it showed text regarding sshd in the console.
I tried doing ssh 64.235.x.x which was my own ip address to see if I can ssh into my own machine, but it returns a message error connecting.
WHat do I need to configure? Is there anything else I need to install, and does a graphical shell exist for sshd that may be easier to use? Thanks

In the console, su to root, and then:

check if there's a ssh daemon running:

rcsshd status

If not, start it:

rcsshd start

Thank you Bruno that was pretty helpful. I'll download an ssh client and test to see if I can login with it to my computer. Thanks again!
