SSH using putty

I am running ssh to access my server remotely. To do this i use the common program Putty.exe. My question is when viewing man pages or other files using putty some of the characters are not formatted correctly.

for example if i did a man iptables some of the " - " options are formatted as

iptables âI
âD, ââdelete

theses should be formatted as

iptables -I
-d, --delete

Does any one know a patch for this or a work around besides just guessing.

I use putty regularly and have never seen this - is something wrong with your windows fonts? maybe your ssh server is broken? I don't think it's putty...

can you tell me what font you are using, I do agree that it is a font issue but this problem happens from all standard Windows 2000 and XP boxes and i log into multiple servers so I dont think it is the server

I am using the default font for putty - Courier New 10 point.
Incidentally, I am using putty development snapshot : 2004-1-8
Are all your servers using the same version of SSH?
I am using OpenSSH_3.4p1 Debian 1:3.4p1-1.woody.3

Does the - character display properly in the font you are using on other windows programs? If not then perhaps your font file is broken.
