hi to all .. im not sure if this is samba problem ... we are using samba 3 running on redhat9 ... everything is fine except for one-two pc running window$ XP ... they can't browse to the domain but if will browse to the specific PC \\machineName it will work ... is there any prob or is there any that i missed...
I used to see this kind of problem on pure M$ networks alot. I believe it has to do with the Browser election process in the SMB protocol. In any case rebooting the machine usually worked, if not I'd reboot both machines.
yea I have had to reboot both before. if your not running mission critical apps on the server this shouldn't be a problem. Not sure if this pertains to your problem due to the time period this thread has spanned the clients should have reelected a master browser by now. Good luck in any case.
