Single 3Com NIC Config Problem

Hi fellas, I've just installed RH9 on my machine, dual boot with Win2000 (for now....). I can't configure the NIC Ethernet Card properly. Its a 3Com ISA 3c509 device.

Linux Says that "Bringing Up Interface eth0: 3c509 device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization. [FAILED]".

It does this upon boot up, then when I run the config tool in RH9, it gives me the same error.

FascistChicken, I saw your replies to Mustard010. Could you help?

Thank you!
Please help.

whats the output of 'lspci' and 'lsmod' (youll probably have to run the commands as root). also, Fedora Core 5 is much more recent, and is basically the new RedHat distro. you should try installing that as it will make life _much_ easier.

Mustard010 has a Linksys 10/100 LAN Card which does use the tulip module. There is a big difference between a 3c501 ISA and a Linksys PCI network adapter and it appeared that RH9 misidentified the network adapter but I can not tell from the posts.

As previously suggested post the output of the command lspci. However, if this truely is an ISA network adapter then it will not be detected. What are the hardware specifications of this PC? With an ISA card you will need to determine its I/O address.
