SBC Yahoo DSL set up!

Now that I am finally able to use RH9, I would like to know how to get connected to DSL... is this correct?

am I using the right configuration??

[root@localhost root]# adsl-start
[root@localhost root]# adsl-status
Note: You have enabled demand-connection; adsl-status may be inaccurate.
adsl-status: Link is down (can't read pppoe PID file /var/run/pppoe-adsl.pid.pppoe)

Is this the right ???

Ethernet Interface: eth0
User name: User
Activate-on-demand: No
DNS addresses: Supplied by ISP's server
Firewalling: NONE
User Control: yes

I'm using DSL with SBC Yahoo

I don't have an ADSL connection (cable only) but I beleive that it's ppp0 not eth0 for your interface.

How do you have your computer connected to the DSL? Is it through a hub or router, or is it connected straight up to the DSL modem with the ethernet cable?

Also, are you on a static or dynamic IP and what is the output from the command, 'ifconfig'?

I guess I should have mentioned that I'm using RH9 on a static IP DSL connection through SBC Yahoo as well!

Try setting the interface to DHCPly obtain the IP. AFAIK some ISPs (even if they offer you a static IP) work this way.
