Exclamation SBC Yahoo! DSL and Mandrake 9.2

Hello,
I recently installed Mandrake 9.2 on my system. I've been using DOS/Windows based computers for over 8 years now but I don't know much about Linux. I'm trying to set-up my SBC Yahoo! DSL and I was successful only about three times; after restarting I wouldn't be able to connect again.

Here are some details:
The modem I'm using is: Efficient SpeedStream 5360
The network card is: Realtek RTL8139
When I go into Mandrake Control Center and check my hardware the NIC is recognized as DFE 538 TX and the vendor is D-Link, but under module it says 8139too.
I'm pretty sure that I'm connecting through PPPoE, so I installed Roaring Penguin PPPoE.

Sometimes I will load the system go into MCC>Network and Internet and eth0 will be down other times it will be up. When I try to configure it the only gives me three options as far as IP configuration goes: boot, dhcp, and static. When try to activate the card the window just freezes not matter what option I choose.

I tried to uninstall the card and install it as trl8139 but Mandrake keeps on saying that it detected DFE 538.

PLEASE HELP ME OUT!

OK!

your nic is fine. The DFE dlink is fine. The chipset manu is realtec but the card is made by dlink. All well and good ESPECIALLy seeing as tho it actually worked.

YES - you are PPPOE [unless you pay for static IP's ??? hm??]
THAT means you connect with your UID and PASSWD.

The trick HERE is to get the pppoe software to load and connect on bootup.

THEN yoU Be sorted like a kestrel at a march fair.

Giz a shout if you have any ceistuins, there is no obstacle too great~ except wireless lol
