Hey everyone, I'm sorry if this questions already been asked a million times but here it goes again. Im trying to setup a DHCP server using Red Hat 7.3. So far I have the dhcpd.conf file configured and the computers on the network are receiving the ip information from the server. However none of them are able to get online. The way my network breaks down is like this:
cable modem - 4 port router - the router runs a line to my linux box - the linux box receives 192.168.1.x from the router in eth0, then eth1 gives out 192.168.0.x, eth1 runs to a 5 port switch which hooks up to the 4 computers in my room. When I release and renew the ip's on my computers they each receive the ip from the server, but no internet connection. So I'm thinking the dhcpd.conf file is configured ok, I think its the network configuration on my linux box that's off. How do i configure eth1 to give internet access though eth0?
There are a few points of failure you have to check.
Firstly, you say that "none of them are able to get online." By online, you mean the internet? You have inter-network connectivity, right? That's how I'm going to assume.
Have you had NAT setup on your linux box before you started using DHCP?
I made the same change to the sysctl.conf file and it worked for me too!!! Hooray! I've been working on and off on a similar problem with my netgear router.
