Output of lspci would be helpful to understand which card you have and what are the drivers that are needed.
I already have a server running RHEL5 with two realtek cards and it detected them automatically.
I am assuming your redhat5 to be RHEL5

Hi,

The same problem i was facing sme 2-3 months back.I am using Redhat 9 based system, with 2.4.22 kernel.I just checked the name on windows side which is Realteck 8168.After that i have downloaded the driver for linux for that ethernet controller, compile it and make it detected at boot time.

If still facing problems, then post your outputs of lsmod and lspci.

Regards,
Ravi

Try this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...26#post2946826
Especially this bit:
Quote:
Boot on windows.
Go to the device manager and get into "properties" for your network card.
In the "Advanced Options" tab select:

Wake-on-lan after shutdown | enable

Reboot into linux. Your network card should be working.
