Unhappy open a port in FC5

I have a problem with openning a port in FC5. I tried the GUI to do it but it never works. I'm trying to run a server which is listing on port 9999 the client cant get to this because the port is blocked.

I had the same problem couple of days ago then I was able to solve it by typing the port number in the GUI (Security and Firewall) but now I cant for some reson. It dont save it.

So what I want to know is....... where is the conf file for this... does anyone know.... or else can some one please sugest me a way to do this...

thank you....

try doing something like this, go to the terminal and
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 9999 -j ALLOW

then do
service iptables save
service iptables restart
