Need to see the following files.
/etc/modprobe.conf
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

Output from the following commands.
/sbin/ifconfig -a
/sbin/lsmod
/sbin/lspci -v
/sbin/route -n

Are you connecting to a router?
Does the router have DHCP enabled?

If not connecting to router then what?
I assume it is a wired connection?

Execute this script and follow the instructions how to solve your problem - or if no config error was detected - post the output of the script in this thread. This will give us the info about your network config needed in order to help you.
