network card stopped working after installing nvidia drivers?
Hi all,
Lately I've been busy getting my video card to work with the newest nvidia drivers on my newly compiled 2.6.3 kernel under the Debian distribution.
After coping with some problems I finally succeeded. However, now that I have got that working I can't connect to the internet anymore, while everything worked fine before. I don't know what I could have done wrong and since I don't get any error messages I don't have a clue as to where to starte looking. So maybe someone else does??
I'll try to given you as much information as I can.
- I'm using a 3Com PCI 3c905B Cyclone card and it is detected correctly on startup.
- I'm on a network connected to a router, which is connected to an ADSL modem.
- The router dispatches IP addresses and when running ifconfig it turns out that my network card gets the IP address 192.168.0.3.
- I can even get to the configuration page of the router when I go to the URL 192.168.0.1. The configuration page of the router tells me that the internet connection is ok (which I already knew because I'm posting this question from another computer on the same network).
So far so good, this would indicate that the drivers for my network card are installed correctly and that it gets a correct ip address.
So why can't I get on the internet? I know it's all very vague, but that's exactly why I'm posting this message. If I had an idea of what might be the problem I would probably have found the solution by looking for posts with that same problem. Please, if somebody has an idea of what might be the problem, let me know.
Thanks,
Quint.
