Question My New Ethernet Card

Hello, I just installed a 3COM 575 card on my laptop. I downloaded the drivers and at first all did not go well because the install program was asking for my WIN98 CD which I did not have. I stopped the install program after it told me that several .dll's could not be found.

Then, I realized that they were on my hard drive under the C:\windows\system folder. So, I started the install process again and specified that folder. All went fine.

But now, when I boot the laptop, I get two messages before I get to the desktop stating that "vredir.vxd" and "dfs.vxd" are referenced in my sys.ini file but they cannot be found. It also says something about msnp3.dll.

I can press enter on these three messages, and get to my desktop and all works fine.

But, should I be concerned about those messages? I mainly installed this card so that when I travel, I will be able to hookup to the new network services that hotels offer for $9.95 a day. Otherwise, at home, when 2 of us need to use a PC simultaneously, we usually use the laptop offline.

Can anyone offer any info here? thanks!

How is your laptop configured OS-wise? Do you have a true dual-boot Windows/Linux setup, or are you using a Linux distro which runs under Windows, such as Lin4Win? It sounds like you're doing the latter, and it doesmake a difference in terms of solving the problem. Give us a detailed description of your setup.
