I have been able to get the smtp side to work but can't get pop3 to work.
I am running fedora 3
Sendmail
Dovecot
I have been in the dovecot.conf file but I must be missing one of those little details that make us nuts!
Anyone have a quick basic setup so I can send and recieve mail just inside my classroom. I need to teach how to setup mail clients (my districts firewall prohibits access to outside mail servers) security is not an issue
Try running nmap localhost and confirm that port 110 and 25 are listening. If pop3 is not running and you are using the inetd server edit the /etc/inetd.conf file to start that service. Then restart the inetd daemon.
