Question Lan configuration problem - NFS boot problem - RX&TX packets errors

I am a Linux newbie and I am trying to configure a lan constituted by 2 red hat 9 workstations with Broadcom tigon3 ethernet cards. I tried a lot of things but I am still unable to mount shared folders from one computer to the other. At the boot I have a NFS mount file error and when I do an ifconfig command I have the following :

eth0 Lien encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0C:76:29:39:1D
inet adr:192.1.3.1 Bcast:192.1.3.255 Masque:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:1066 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:37 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 lg file transmission:100
RX bytes:68224 (66.6 Kb) TX bytes:2368 (2.3 Kb)
Interruption:48

lo Lien encap:Boucle locale
inet adr:127.0.0.1 Masque:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:1492 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:1492 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 lg file transmission:0
RX bytes:94467 (92.2 Kb) TX bytes:94467 (92.2 Kb)

How can I solve RX and TX packets errors ? Both workstations can be pinged successfully. Any advices ?
Thanks

What hardware have you got in-between the two machines that could possibly be meddling with your network traffic? Have you tried replacing the network cables?

Is there any possibility you could change the network cards for something more common like a 3com or one of the realtek series?

My machines are directly connected by the network cable, they are not on a network and not connected to internet. I have on both machines a windows partition and under windows I have no problem to share files and to see each machine on the other.
I have a route error when I try to mount a nfs shared folder, I configured on each machine the hosts authorizations but connections are simply refused.

Are you trying to nfs mount the windows partitions?
If so, nfs can only mount unix and linux filesystems. File sharing of windows partitions can be done with samba.
